How our Coffees are processed

Blue Feather Single Origin Coffees are Washed or Wet Processed. Our beans are not sourced from large mass- produced farms. We take pride in providing you with high quality premium beans.

What does that mean?

The washed or wet process for coffee beans involves several steps to ensure a clean and consistent flavor profile:

  1. Floating and Sorting: Coffee cherries are floated in water and sorted to remove defective ones and ensure consistent ripeness.
  2. Depulping: The seeds (coffee beans) are removed from their skins using depulping machines.
  3. Fermentation: The beans are typically moved to fermentation tanks to remove the mucilage (remaining fruit remnants).
  4. Drying: After fermentation, the coffee is dried until it reaches the optimal moisture level.

This method is popular because it allows the true character of the coffee, influenced by its growing conditions and region (terroir), to shine through in the cup profile.
